Membership

Become a part of The Summit Church

Why Membership?

The Christian life is not meant to be an isolated experience. Rather, the Bible teaches that the Christian life is lived together as the church—a local body of believers, the family of God, in covenant community. Church membership is our way of identifying and affirming who joins together in covenant community at The Summit Church.

How to Become a Member

If you are interested in being a part of our covenant community, we would like to invite you to our Become a Member process. We want to take the time to show you who we are and what we believe. We also want to get to know you and get you connected to everything the Summit has to offer. Our hope is that this process will help you feel welcomed, as well as get a better sense for what it means to be a family member of The Summit Church.

We ask that you follow the steps below when it comes to gathering information about our church, exploring membership, and ultimately joining our church family:

Step 1. Attend Explore the Summit

Our Explore the Summit class provides a fun and safe environment to learn more about the Mission and Ministries of The Summit Church. It also serves as the first step for getting connected to serving, small groups, and membership here at the Summit.

Step 2. Watch Videos

You will receive a link to watch four required videos prior to attending a Become a Member event. These videos will cover our history, our mission and values, discipleship, and our disciple-making convictions. During this step, you will be able to ask questions about anything in these videos.

Step 3. Attend a Become a Member Event

We believe that the most faithful and effective disciples are those who partner with other disciples through the local church.

In order for you to make an informed decision about your membership here, we want to show you how church membership benefits you. And to do that, we’d like to walk you through what we believe the Bible says about a few important topics, such as:

Who is God? (And what does that mean for our church?)
What is the Gospel?
Why does membership matter?

Step 4. Membership Conversation

After you have participated in the Become a Member event, the final step to confirm your membership is to have a conversation with one of our elders. Someone will reach out to you via email or phone in the days following your class attendance. You will meet with someone for about 45 min. If you are a couple then it will be anywhere between 1 hr to 1 hr and 30 min.

The goal of this conversation is two things: (1) that you get introduced to another one of our elders and have a welcoming conversation and (2) to make sure you are ready for membership. This will be an opportunity to ask any questions that you haven’t already as well as get more insight on the applicable impact of membership as it relates to you.
