Coronavirus Information and Resources

This information was last updated on Thursday, July 2.

As we consider the best timeline and approach for reopening our campuses, our directional elders continue to keep an eye on the governor’s guidelines, to consult with medical professionals, and to consider what other churches of our size are doing. As we have from the beginning, we are attempting to make wise decisions that both honor our governing authorities and bless our community.

To that end, our directional elders have decided that we will continue to operate online-only for all ministry functions, including the weekend service, at least through Sunday, July 19.

Our task force will make a new recommendation to the directional elders the week of July 20. As they decide the timeline for our next steps, we will communicate them with you as soon as possible. Until then, stay tuned at summitchurch.com, social media, and your email.

Our plans moving forward include (but are not limited to):

Summit Online

Right now, our primary strategy to reach all people is through Summit Online—including worship services and small groups (or virtual groups).

Summit Online Service Times

Saturdays at 4 p.m. | Sundays at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 6 p.m. | Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Worship Together With Neighbors in Your Homes

As you’re comfortable, invite neighbors and friends into your home to worship with you.

Preparing for and Returning to In-person Worship

We’ll remain online through at least July 19. We don’t have specific dates and times for resuming in-person worship, but know that we’re preparing our reopening plan to use when we are ready to do so.

Upcoming Virtual Member Meeting

In light of the recent developments in our state, we have postponed our member meeting originally scheduled for the end of June. We’ll reconvene and share updates on our plans to keep you and your families safe as we have more information.

To help you navigate the current season, we’ve addressed some FAQs regarding our church, how we’re making decisions, and our plans moving forward. You can also watch our May 31 member meeting using the link below.

How to Watch or Listen to Services

For the foreseeable future, we will not meet for worship gatherings at any of our campus locations. Instead, we will gather virtually for worship online and we will provide resources to help you worship each week.

You can participate by watching one of our streamed services on your smart TV, in a browser on your computer, or on your mobile device. If you have a smart TV with the YouTube app, you may navigate there directly and search for "The Summit Church."

We will be streaming services at the following times on Facebook, YouTube, and live.summitchurch.com:

  • Saturdays at 4 p.m.
  • Sundays at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 6 p.m.
  • Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

These services will be archived and available at any time on all three channels:

Summit en Español

We will also stream a service in Spanish for our Summit en Español congregation on Sundays at 11 a.m. on the their website, Facebook and YouTube channel.

Listen to the Service by Phone

For those who may not have access to the internet in their home, nursing home, or hospital room, we have a phone number that allows you to call in and listen to our 11 a.m. service live. Here’s how it works:

  1. Call (844) 698-6868.
  2. To be notified when our 11 a.m. service goes live, press “1,” and you’ll receive a phone call on Sunday before the service begins.
  3. If you miss the live service, you can call the number at any time and hear the previous service on-demand.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Interpretation

Our sermons from our “Together We Endure” series are now available on-demand with sign language interpretation for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

First Time Guests

Even while we’re apart, we want to welcome our First Time Guests. If you are joining us for the first time, please visit summitchurch.com/guest so you can receive our First Time Guest resources and we can connect with you.

Small Groups

While we won't be able to gather as small groups in person, we want to encourage every group to continue to relationally engage and meet virtually each week during this season. This is a great time for you to assist your "technologically-challenged" small group leader, as you use one of the great virtual meeting platforms out there!

Small group leaders, we will continue to resource you through the SG Weekly Update each Friday afternoon. You can expect resources ranging from how-tos for virtual community tools to weekly group curriculum.

To be clear, we are still encouraging all of our Summit small groups (regardless of age or number of members), to continue meeting virtually without in-person gatherings.

Virtual Groups

If you aren’t engaged in a small group at the Summit, we would love to help you join a virtual group during this time.

If you are in need of assistance, our ServeRDU team has compiled a list of local, state, and national resources that may be available to you.

Resources for Bible Study and Prayer

We are so encouraged by the way you’re loving on and serving your community in this season. We are praying that God would strengthen you to keep finding ways to image Christ to your homes and neighbors in the coming days, weeks, and months.

As a church, we want to provide resources to help you do this well, so we’re sharing a discipleship resource called “Don’t Waste Your Quarantine.” In it, you’ll find various tools and resources on how to leverage this season in regards to your home, spiritual disciplines, your community, and more.

We have also created a Family Ministry Quarantine Guide. Though not exhaustive, we are confident these resources can help you build a plan to help see the gospel go forward in your home and in your community!

Finally, we have put together a comprehensive study of what it looks like to grow as a disciple. If you haven't already, we invite you to engage with these resources as you dig deeper in your walk with Christ.
