Pursuit of ethnic diversity and gospel unity (John 17:20–23)

CORE’s Mission

The Summit Church is committed to creating a movement of disciple-making disciples, men and women who proclaim the diversity of the kingdom and reflect the diversity of our community.  Because of the reconciliation of the gospel, we are called not only to ethnic diversity but to ethnic unity. This commitment is not a political agenda; rather, it is grounded in Scripture, exemplified in the missionary approach of the Apostle Paul (Acts 17, 19), and is promised as our future eternal reality (Revelation 5). The Commission for Oneness and Reconciliation (CORE) is a ministry of The Summit Church that exists to bring this dream to fruition.

Staff Development

CORE comes alongside the leadership of the Summit to provide tools to establish ethnic unity across all of our campuses. We offer trainings, small group environments, books, and engage in rich experiences to lead from a place of growing authenticity in the area of Christ-exalting unity.

Member Discipleship

At the Summit, we exist to make disciples of all people. This means we intentionally engage people from all ethnicities represented in the Triangle. Right now, the Raleigh-Durham area is 56 percent White and 44 percent People of Color. Our desire is for our sanctuaries to reflect the rich diversity of our mission field.

We are not into diversity and ethnic unity because these are popular cultural ideas, but because we want to reach people with the glorious truth of the gospel. CORE exists to inspire and equip our members with the tools needed to take the gospel to the “Jews and Gentiles”—people of different ethnicities.
